November 29, 2011—Aston, PA—Philadelphia Electrical Equipment Co. (PEECO) announced this month winning contracts from two large defense contractors in support of the Department of Defense mission. These two new contracts mark the success of PEECO’s new business development strategy to implement a new government division of the company.
After celebrating 30 years of successful growth, President/ CEO, Robert Guarini made a decision that while the company remains very successful in commercial business, that there were opportunities that were unique to the firm’s core business, controls, switchgear, integration and power generation solutions.
“We learned while working as a third-tier subcontractor on a major DoD project, that we had unique skills and expertise that would add value to the DoD market. Our years and years of experience with many vendors, suppliers and power generation bring a niche skill needed by our military customers and their large defense suppliers,” stated Guarini.
The company is currently expanding and has added a new Sales Executive, Bill Boyer to its team. Bill contributes over 15 years in Sales and Marketing. He is a welcome addition to the PEECO family.
The company has also invested in becoming ISO9001:2008 Certified, certification is anticipated in December 2011.
This Thanksgiving, the PEECO team is thankful for the new opportunities to serve the warfighter and to celebrate many years of commercial success.

October 11, 2011—Aston, PA--Philadelphia Electrical Equipment Co. (PEECO) announced today it is celebrating 30 years of excellence. On October 21, 2011, PEECO will host a day of festivities to mark the event. PEECO was founded in September 21 1981 by Robert G. Guarini a registered professional electric engineer. Mr. Guarini's vision was to build a team of smart and talented engineers to solve power problems. PEECO is known as the place where experts come for answers.
PEECO is a small and dynamic growing business that is accomplished in electrical engineering and power generation with experience in all facets of engineering production, manufacture and test involving power generation control and distribution equipment.
PEECO provides power solutions to a variety of clients and industries in both the commercial and government sectors. Recent experience includes the development, design, install, manufacture of a power island in support of the US Missile Defense Agency at remote location. The power plant is a 10 MW hardened shielded facility that will provide power should an electrical magnetic pulse event (EMP) occur. PEECO is in the final stages of testing and commissioning this plant. PEECO manufactured the switchgear and controls, made modifications to the generator sets in its 35,000 square foot facility in Aston, PA.
PEECO currently employs 27 people, primarily electrical and mechanical engineers. New contracts have just recently been received from The Boeing Company, ATEC Industries, and the US Navy. PEECO's services hundreds of commercial clients that include Scotland Memorial Hospital, Reading Memorial Hospital, Red Hook Waste Water Treatment Facility in New York, Longwood Gardens, Philadelphia Airport and Merck in the Caribbean and the Lower 48 US States.
PEECO provides design specifications and engineering aspects of power generation and control, plus Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and electrical mechanical interfaced systems integration for utilities, both commercial and military end-users, other consulting firms and Original Equipment Manufacturers(OEM's). Second Quarter of 2011
On April 19th 2011, PEECO™ welcomed Jane Cheatham as Vice President of Business Development. Ms. Cheatham joins the team with energizing ideas and extensive professional experience, a remarkable addition to the growing team at Philadelphia Electrical Equipment Company™.
Ms. Cheatham offers 30 years of business development experience in the government and commercial markets. She has a proven track record for growing companies, in her last position she developed the strategy and implemented a growth plan that took a small power generation firm from $8 Million a year in revenues to $72 Million in revenues during a four year period. Her work experience includes partnering with federal agencies and large defense contractors in the power, environmental, construction and high tech industries. Ms. Cheatham will also be responsible PEECO's government relations.
During the second quarter of 2011, PEECO™ successfully delivered the following equipment to Scotland Memorial Hospital located in Laurinburg, North Carolina: two (2) 750KW caterpillar diesel generator sets in outdoor enclosures along with nine (9) automatic transfer switches. All of the equipment is controlled by new Freedom iGear controls integrated into a 480V Square D breaker lineup. Final start-up and commissioning is expected in early August of 2011.
PEECO™ is currently in the installation phase of updating the Freedom iGear™ controls for the emergency generator system at the eminent Philadelphia airport. PEECO™ efficiently manufactured the controls in- house and supplied a new MTU 2 MW diesel generator set to optimize the airports' back up generation capacity. Commissioning is expected to be completed the third quarter of this year.
Freedom iGear™ generator controls for (2) 2.6 MW EMD Diesel Generator sets were supplied by PEECO™ to the Red Hook Waste Water Treatment Plant, currently located in Brooklyn, New York. Previously, PEECO™ supported the customer witness testing at the EMD plant in New Orleans prior to the system being broken down and shipped the Red Hook Site in the Brooklyn Navy Yard. PEECO™ is looking forward to the final start-up and commissioning, expected to occur within the month.
PEECO™ completed final commissioning on the Freedom iGear™ controls retrofit for the emergency generator substation at the world renowned Longwood Gardens. Manufactured in-house by PEECO™, the master control unit was successfully installed into existing GE Switchgear by our professional Field Service team. The newly implemented iGear™ system efficiently replaced an ASCO DVL control platform that was antiquated and lacked the reliability that the customer required.
In the second quarter of 2011, PEECO™ proudly sold its first Solar Utility Interface Panel to the Pleasantville Union Free School District located in Pleasantville, New Jersey.
PEECO™ has many ongoing Co-Generation projects that will begin 2011 including the involvement in the Johnson and Johnson Co-Generation project in Springhouse, Pennsylvania, the Albright College Co-Generation project in Easton, Pennsylvania and the Geisinger Hospital Co-Generation Project located in Danville, Pennsylvania.

- PEECO finish’s first half of 2009 with record sales and delivery of PEECO Freedom iGear for Homeland Security, Glaxo Smith Kline (GSK), Merck & Co., DuPont Children’s Hospital, Morgan Bank, Centocor, Wyeth, Tenaska Energy and Cornell University.
- PEECO performs full load test of first Caterpillar D3516C Tier II 2.0MWe/15KV diesel generator set with remote charge-air-cooler (CAC) and remote radiator at its Aston, PA facility.
- PEECO begins the installation of the second 5.2 MWe Solar T60 Gas Turbine Generator Plant in Prudhoe Bay, AK. PEECO continues on going engineering & operating contract for the 20MWe power station consisting of reciprocating and gas turbine power generators. PEECO replaces 50,000 ft of 15KV buried cable, 27,000 ft of fiber optic cable and 28 tap boxes.
- PEECO completes FAT testing of 15KV Freedom iGear control and distribution gear.
- PEECO supplies & commissions 2 X 2,250KWe 5KV Black Start Generating Plants for 675MWe power station controlled by PEECO Freedom iGear located at the Lincoln Generating Station Manhattan, IL.

- PEECO President Robert G. Guarini, P.E. is honored in a proclamation ceremony by Aston Township Supervisors for his generous support of the Aston Township Police Department K-9 unit.
- PEECO Electrical Engineer William McHale “Tied-The-Knot” with Ms. Theresa Regiec on May 30th . The couple Honeymooned on a 10 day cruse throughout the Mediterranean. Everyone at PEECO wishes the newlywed’s many years of happiness.
