LOAD CURTAILMENT PROGRAMS

Utility companies sometimes face extremely high local energy demands that are challenging to provide. To avoid profit loss and brownouts or blackouts, utility companies may sponsor mutually beneficial Load Curtailment agreements with certain power end users. In these programs, utilities will offer discounts and benefits in turn for compliance of end users switching to back up generation when requested.

Load curtailment programs can be integrated into PEECO Power Control Systems by receiving communications from utility and allowing power transfer/retransfer between sources as needed.

Generator/Utility Paralleling Controls are used for closed-transition systems, but not necessary for open-transition. PEECO recommends the use of closed-transition transfer and soft loading to prevent power surges and disturbance to equipment.
